Project Meet Me Halfway: Jimmy Wayne
Follow Country Music Star Jimmy Wayne as he walks halfway across America to raise awareness of the fact that to many youth-especially those that are aging out of the foster care system-are facing circumstances similar to those he faced as a child growing up.
"Aging out" refers to what happens when youth reach a certain age (age 18 in most states) and are no longer eligible for support from the foster care system. Without foster care funding, many youth lose their place to live, health care coverage, connections to supportive adults, and are ill-prepared to support themselves in the adult world. Many youth end up like Jimmy--homeless on the streets.

Compassion in Action is a non-profit corporation founded in 2006. Our mission is to provide clothing, food and other necessities to indigent children in our community.
The idea for a non-profit organization was developed when LSCI was approached about a child in need of a surgical procedure to correct a physical deformity. After phone calls to area agencies and other organizations met with little success, the idea for a non-profit organization to assist children victimized by nature and social circumstances was put into action.
Since 2007 we have helped with the following projects in the area...
Basic Needs Underwear, clothing, coats, personal hygiene products and oral hygiene products for indigent children.
School Lunch Services Paid lunch charges for over 1500 lunches in the Jonesboro Public School District and Buffalo Island Central School District. This gave many families a new cafeteria balance of zero. This donation allowed children to be served lunches that were otherwise suspended for non-payment.
Community Night Out Fall Festival setting for families and children in the downtown Jonesboro area. Food and drinks were provided from area merchants and LSCI employees cooked and served hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, cotton candy and managed carnival booths. All free to the public.
Workbooks for Children Workbooks were donated to assist children who are victims of sexual abuse for Healthy Boundaries Group.
Water Bottled water donated to Oak Grove Middle School in Greene County for students during the summer and hot weather months.
Glass Slipper Program Dresses, shoes and accessories provided at no cost to high school students wishing to attend their proms. The girls may call the Marketing office at 870-972-5929 to set up an appointment and pick from a large supply of gowns and shoes. These dresses and accessories are theirs to keep.
